Doubtful Sound
September 1
During the mid semester break we also went on a boat cruise of Doubtful Sound which is actually a fiord (it was carved out by a glacier). It was a fantastic, despite the crummy weather (windy and rainy). We saw dolphins, seals, and a penguin. Along the way we made a stop at the Manapori power station which was pretty cool as well.

Spring Break 2010 #2
30th August to 5th September
Some friends (Charles, Carson, Conner, and Alexa) and I rented a car and drove to Manapouri for mid semester break. We rented a house in the quant town of 300, located in the heart of the scenic Fiordland National park. Fiordland is NZ largest national park and is located on the west coast of the South island.
The focus of the trip was to see the magificent scenery that NZ has to offer. The cheapest way to do this is to tramp (ie hike), we went on day tramps in three different places; around lakes Manapouri and Te Anau and on the Kepler track. We also went on a boat cruise of Doubtful sound. I am going to write additional posts with details of each of the four days we were in Manapouri. Check out the cool rainbow across the river.
